Samyang Introduces AF 85mm F1.4 RF,
    Expanding their RF Series Lineup

May 29th 2020, Seoul, South Korea – Global optics brand Samyang Optics introduces the AF 85mm F1.4 RF, an autofocus portrait lens for RF mount cameras. This new lens delivers beautiful bokeh, outstanding image quality and reliable autofocusing. Along with the recently launched AF 14mm F2.8 RF, the new Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 RF opens a new door of options to Canon EOS R camera users.

    Pioneering the Trend
Samyang has been one of the early birds in introducing compact and lightweight full frame mirrorless lenses for RF mount. A series of manual focus lenses was introduced, starting with manual focus 14mm and 85mm. Then, the world’s first autofocus 14mm lens for RF mount, AF 14mm F2.8 RF was presented in October 2019 and now, the new AF 85mm F1.4 RF is announced to meet the rising needs of photographers.

    Main Features

    Outstanding Image Quality
Samyang’s RF series is known for its outstanding image quality, since the AF 14mm F2.8 RF was awarded the prestigious TIPA award in 2020 as ‘best mirrorless prime wide-angle lens.’ The new AF 85mm RF also makes no compromise in image quality: A total of 11 elements in 8 groups, with 4 high-refractive (HR) optics and an extra low-dispersion (ED) lens, have been designed to create impressive image quality from corner to corner.

    Smooth and Dreamy Bokeh
Exceptional bokeh is presented with the knowhow of Samyang’s optical design. The smooth bokeh adds depth and a three dimensional feeling to your portraits. 9 aperture blades provide natural, circular bokeh with a fantastic out-of-focus effect that is pleasing to the eye.

    Bright F1.4 for Treasured Portraits
Shallow depth of focus smoothly blurs the background and highlights the story of the subject. The 85mm focal length, combined with the wide maximum aperture of f/1.4, enables photographers to achieve a dramatically shallow depth-of-field.

    Accurate, Silent Autofocusing
The DLSM (Dual Linear Sonic Motor) works with ultrasonic vibrations, providing a silent autofocus performance. The accurate high frequency signals, controlled with Samyang’s own protocols, precisely operate the DLSM. Specialists in optics, mechanical engineering and electronics, have researched cooperatively to produce such effective results for a short telephoto lens. This allows you to capture unforgettable moments efficiently and silently.

    Enhanced Usability
Pioneering new territory, this lens is packed with features: Weather sealing protects the lens from dust, light rain and snow and provides the ability to capture stunning images in less than perfect conditions. Also, the AF/MF switch enables you to be in control and capture the finest details. You can enjoy the freedom of photographic expression, with all the latest functions.

SAMYANG announces MK2 Versions of Legendary Manual Focus Lenses for full frame DSLRs:
    MF 14mm F2.8 MK2 and MF 85mm F1.4 MK2

May 25th 2020, Seoul, South Korea –Samyang Optics Co., Ltd., a leading global optics manufacturer, announces the long-awaited renewal of two classic and respected manual focus lenses for full frame DSLRs: The new MF 14mm F2.8 MK2 and MF 85mm F1.4 MK2 lenses will be available in 6 different mounts as follows: Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E, Fujifilm X, Canon M and MFT.

    MF 14mm F2.8 MK2

The Samyang MF 14mm F2.8 MK2 is an ultra-wide-angle, manual-focus lens with superb sharpness from corner to corner, even at its maximum wide-open aperture. The 115.7˚ wide angle of view is ideal for shooting landscapes, interiors, astro-photography etc. and the attached lens hood effectively blocks unwanted light so you can shoot as you wish.

    What’s New? - Main Features:

    Focus Lock & De-clicked Aperture
The MF 14mm F2.8 MK2 includes two completely new features: “Focus Lock” & “De-click”. Now you can lock the focus ring at a specific point, greatly improving precision and repeatability, especially useful in astrophotography and time-lapse shots. The de-clicked aperture option allows infinitely fine adjustment between F-stops. By rotating the silver ring from 'Click' to 'Free', you can adjust the aperture smoothly and precisely, to ensure exactly the right amount of light is captured.

Beautiful Bokeh - 9 Aperture Blades
In terms of bokeh performance, the 9-rounded aperture blades help to achieve excellent smooth and creamy out of focus backgrounds. The 9 aperture blades also provide clearly defined sunstars when the aperture is stopped-down.

    Exterior Design
The MF 14mm F2.8 MK2 has a consistent and balanced exterior design of body and lens hood. There is also a new micro-pattern texture on the rubber focus ring which provides comfortable, positive handling.

Creative Expression with Ultra Wide-Angle of View (115.7˚)
With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.28m (0.92ft) and its 115.7˚ angle of view, this lens allows users to create compositions that emphasize dramatic perspective that is unique to ultra-wide-angle lenses.

14 Elements in 10 Groups (1 ASP, 1 Hybrid ASP, 2 ED, 3 HR) with UMC
The MF 14mm F2.8 MK2 features a total of 14 elements in 10 groups. These include 3 High Refractive, 1 Hybrid Aspherical, 1 Aspherical and 2 Extra-low Dispersion elements. The special optical design adjusts the light path through the lens for clear and vibrant images and also corrects chromatic aberration.

    Usability / Weather sealing
Environmental seals are located around the lens mount area to prevent infiltration of moisture and/or rain drops. This feature provides an additional layer of protection when shooting outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
